The cave grew colder and heavier. Emily’s breath puffed in front of her. The air felt thick and pressing. Jason cleared his throat, voice steady. “If he meant us harm, he’d have done it already.” Emily nodded slightly, but fear still clung to her. The deeper they went, the less safe she felt.
