What does everyone want most in life? People often say that they want to live a happy life. Why don’t we want to live a joyful life? For some people it may be the same, but there is an equal difference.
Joy vs. Happiness – what’s the difference?
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, joy is the feeling that is generated when one is successful, has happiness, or has achieved something that he or she has always wanted to achieve. Joy is an emotion, without having an expectation pattern.
However, happiness is an experience from which one derives satisfaction. It is almost always accompanied by an object, an idea or an experience. There is an expectation pattern underlying it. It is fortunate to experience both elements in our lives.

Happiness is often a destination to which one lives, while joy is a way of life. However, happiness is important, because it is also a destination you work towards, for which you do everything and for which you have a lot of money. However, this can be achieved in a joyful way.
That is also why happiness and joy go hand in hand. Without joy in the moments, we cannot become happy. You can see your ultimate goal as a reason to be happy, but without enjoying all the steps you take in the meantime, the ultimate happiness will be disappointing.

However, it is also possible to experience joy when you are not happy. These are the small windfalls when things go wrong. Because of this, unhappy moments can be made a little happier. We often see that these joyful moments can help a person to climb out of the valley, to have new experiences or to make completely different choices in life.
At that moment, that person is going to find his or her happiness again. This is the perfect example that joy and happiness can go hand in hand.
