The tension in the air thickened. The crowd wanted answers, but Dwayne wasn’t giving any. A man at the front clenched his fists. “Why are you protecting him?” he demanded again. “He doesn’t deserve it!” But Dwayne’s friends didn’t flinch. They formed an impenetrable barrier, standing shoulder to shoulder.
