Matthew quickly exited the room, his eyes darting down the empty hallway. His heart raced as he tried to figure out where the assistant might have taken the puppies. The clinic, which had seemed inviting earlier, now felt eerily quiet and unwelcoming. Every second that passed added to his panic. He had to find them quickly.
