Matthew’s frustration reached a boiling point. If the vet wasn’t going to be transparent, he decided, he would take the puppies home and figure things out himself. “If you’re not going to help, I will,” he said firmly, moving to leave. But the vet quickly stepped in his path. “You don’t understand,” the vet warned, his tone carrying an urgency that stopped Matthew in his tracks.
