The vet straightened up, his demeanor shifting to one of firm authority. “These animals need further examination,” he said, his tone leaving no room for debate. Matthew opened his mouth to protest, but the vet quickly cut him off. “This is for their safety—and yours,” he added. The gravity of the vet’s words only deepened Matthew’s sense of unease, but he found himself unable to argue further.
