Chrissy’s teacher worked at the orphanage; therefore, Emily and Kevin figured that she would surely speak in favor of the organization she represented. “Whatever comes out of her mouth, we can take it and counter it,” Kevin whispered softly toward his shaking wife. But when Mrs. Alden started speaking, the complete opposite was true. She might have worked for the orphanage, but her observations were disputing their case.
