Chrissy stated that she couldn’t remember her mother or father. She only remembered what Mrs. Collins told her. Mrs. Collins stepped forward, her voice stern. “Chrissy, that’s enough. Let’s not confuse things,” she said, but Judge Dupree held up a hand to stop her. “No,” the judge said firmly. “This is important. Chrissy, can you tell us more about your old family?” The little girl hesitated, her eyes darting between Emily and Mrs. Collins.
