Her sister taking the stand
Emily’s sister, Laura, was the first witness called. Taking the stand, she adjusted her scarf nervously. “Emily and Kevin are incredible people,” she began. “They’ve always dreamed of being parents, and Chrissy’s bonded with them already. I’ve seen how happy she is with them. There’s no reason this adoption shouldn’t go through.” Tears welled in Emily’s eyes as Laura’s words hung in the courtroom air.
