Step into the light
Right after Emily spoke, movement stirred. A rugged man stepped slowly into Jason’s flashlight beam. “Stay right there!” Jason shouted. Emily raised her knife, tense and alert. Both were clearly on edge, braced for danger. But then, to their surprise, the man didn’t move toward them or speak. He just stood still, watching.
