The officers stepped inside, one with a flashlight, the other with the tranquilizer gun ready. The house was silent, but tense. Every footstep echoed as they moved toward the attic hatch. “It’s still up there,” John whispered from the car. A heavy sound vibrated from above—something was definitely awake. One officer pulled the attic cord. The ladder dropped with a clatter.
